I’ve created a new set featuring abstracts of water  – reflections and waves.  Each image is a composite of four, five or six frames, overlaid and toned to create the final artwork. I’ve long wanted to do something illustrative, pen-and-ink-like, and these work pretty well I think. They’re also a further step towards eliminating the subject altogether, which seems to be my ambition at the moment. Here’s an example:

Waves / ReflectionsI feel as though I’m making progress of some sort, albeit at a snail’s pace and with no particular notion of where I’m headed.  The next new set may involve brightly coloured ice and/or butterflies…

Hi Simon! I follow you on Flickr and just wanted to say that I love this image and appreciate your work in general. Like the blog idea (even though you seem to have stopped blogging) and am happy to see that you are brave enough to share some of the techniques you employee in creating your images.

Keep up the good work. Some of us are paying attention (just in case you were wondering)

Hi Ron, What a wonderful message to receive. Thank you. I will blog again soon. There never seems to be enough time to do all things I’d like (or ought) to do. Simon
